Message fine silica sand and Petrobond's special concoction which has an oil base used as a binder. I bought a 100# bag of it for around $150 and I'm using about a third of it for my molds. The molding "flask" is just made from lumber - I had to make a new molding flask today for these pieces as my original flask wasn't long enough to hold these pieces. The flask is the top and bottom component of the mold; the "cope" and "drag" are their respective names. There is also an additional component called "parting dust", which is used to coat your part and the seam between the two halves of the mold - it has the consistency of baby powder, but it is made from powderized silica sand and a few other components. Theres a ton of information out on the net about doing this sort of thing.
